Jason Pearce

IMG_3878.jpg

Jason Pearce is a dance and film artist based in Melbourne (Naarm) and Canberra (Ngunnawal country). He is an alumni of QL2, and graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 2019, where he had the opportunity to work with world renowned choreographers and explore his own choreographic interests.

His practice explores the combining of movement and science fiction themes to create unique choreographic worlds. As a choreographer and filmmaker he hopes to prompt the audience’s imagination and invite them to contemplate the narratives that can be possible through live performance and dance on screen. Through the lens of science fiction he wishes to create work that is current and that is capable of raising questions about our humanity.

Since Graduating in 2019, Jason has worked with Alisdair Macindoe, performed at the National Portrait Gallery with QL2 and most recently was a recipient of the Ausdance ACT and QL2 Curated Residency Program. During this residency, he created his new work ALL BLANK WASTELAND which was performed at QL2 in Canberra and selected to be shown in the Festival Hub in the Melbourne Fringe Festival (2022).

I respectfully acknowledge the Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation and the Ngunnawal people on whose lands I live and dance. I pay my respects to their elders past, present and emerging and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.
